We as YWAM CMC, believe in and affirm and choose to live out the 18 foundational values of YWAM international. We have also prayed through and chosen to for our own set of personalized values that distinguish the way that we choose to live our lives out as a ministry. These values are what help us to live out and operate in the way we believe we can have the greatest impact in our sphere of influence here in Mexico City.
Live by Faith
The principle- Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3
We believe that it is by faith, through faith and in faith, that we can see the transformation of individuals, communities, cities and nations. We understand that Christ is the foundation of our faith and because of Him, we dream big with the Lord, so big, that we know that it will require absolute faith to see it come to be. Our Faith is in God, through us, that we will begin to see transformation and His Kingdom come to Earth. Our faith is active, we do not just sit around waiting, but actively participate in the change we want to see.
Fear of the Lord
The principle- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
We want to live radically and in faith through a personal relationship with our Father being guided by wisdom, through the Holy Spirit in all that we do. In order to be guided in wisdom, we must have a Holy reverence and Fear of the Lord.
The principle- Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14 Matthew 5:8
The only way to Holiness is to live in The Fear of the Lord, through encompassing each area of our being, physically, emotionally and spiritually. We want to see the Lord and do His will, so we strive to live in Holiness. Holiness will determine how and why we do what we do. It will affect the decisions that we make from big to small.
Hear God and Obey
The Principle- Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:22-25
We do not just want to pray to God, nor to we just want to hear what He has to say. We want to pray, listen and obey God in all that we do. Not to over spiritualize anything or make it about a religious process, but we want to be so in tune to what the Lord is speaking and live in a way that we would respond in radical obedience.
The Principle- Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
God’s ultimate desire is that we would give everything, in every aspect of our life happily. He doesn’t want us to have to give out of obligation or coercion. He wants to bless his children. Not so that we can live in complete comfort and luxury, but so that we can be even more generous—abounding in every good work.
The Principle- Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Romans 12:13 Colossians 3:23-24
To practice hospitality, is not only to share what we have with others, but to offer a safe place, a refuge to those in need. Whether they are just passing through our city or looking for a community to share life with, we want to offer the best to each person that comes through our doors, in order to get through a season healthier and stronger than when they come. We look to be a place of healing and connecting in the presence of God.
We are always willing to give and love our neighbor with everything that’s in our hands, not ignoring others needs, but always led by the Holy Spirit believing that we can hear God’s voice and He can lead us to act in a specific way.
